Frequently asked questions
Common concerns
Isn’t needing a coach a sign of weakness?
On the contrary––it shows you’re strong enough to start consciously working on yourself. It takes courage to look in the mirror. It’s also what gets you the furthest.
Shouldn't one be able to figure things out on their own?
That’s one option. But the cool thing about coaching is that you don’t have to do it alone.
Will coaching be a waste of time?
Your time is valuable––and we definitely won’t waste any of it. We will focus on concrete, practical goals and results. It’s not about “clocking in”. The value of coaching is measured by your satisfaction, self-improvement, and newfound confidence. Not by the number of hours we spend together.
I’m not great with authority figures. Will I get along with a coach?
No need to worry. Coaching is a partnership in which no one is superior or subordinate. It’s a safe space that we build together.
I’ve had it with “inspirational talks”. Will coaching be any different?
Absolutely. Coaching is not a motivational lecture. It’s actual work. I’m not going to drop universal truths on you––we will lead an open, authentic, and actionable conversation on topics that are important to you, specifically.
About the sessions
What kind of advice can I expect from a coach?
None! Giving advice is not part of my role; I don’t have a monopoly on wisdom. The answers and solutions are already within you, and my task is to help you uncover them. I will also be your guide from point A to point B.
What does the coach think about me during the sessions?
Nothing at all. My job description does not include forming opinions or passing judgment. It does, however, include active listening, helping you organise your thoughts, and guiding you in the direction you’ve chosen.
Is coaching uncomfortable?
Honestly? Sometimes it hurts a little. Naming our emotions, changing our patterns or ways of thinking––all of this can get a bit uncomfortable. I might also ask unpleasant questions, which are often the stepping stones to transformation. Fulfilling your goals and potential is worth it.
What if I’m not ready to deal with certain issues just yet?
In coaching, you’re the one who sets boundaries. I will respect your pace and decisions on which topics you want to delve into. The speed and depth of the process adapt to you, not the other way round.
Is the conversation confidential?
Of course! The content of each session remains 100% confidential. Discretion and confidentiality are part of the coaching code of ethics.
Coaching in general
What exactly is personal coaching?
In short, it’s a supportive technique for self-development. Although a relatively young discipline, it has a scientific basis––coaching draws from various philosophical and psychological approaches. At its core is a mindset shift and the creation of new, useful connections in the brain.
What can I gain from coaching?
Coaching focuses on specific goals and concrete steps. You will leave each session with an action plan that you have designed for yourself. One of the advantages of coaching is that results can be achieved in a relatively short time. You might even be surprised at the number of learnings, “aha” moments, and new perspectives you’ll take away from each session.
Is coaching the same as therapy?
Coaching works differently from therapy. For example, we won’t go back to your childhood and search for deep-rooted causes of what’s happening now. We will focus on what is and what could be. Coaching sessions look like goal-oriented conversations, helping you articulate your current situation and set things in motion.
Is there a difference between a mentor and a coach?
Unlike mentors, coaches do not provide advice. One of the key principles of my coaching is the belief that you already have the best solutions and answers within you. Our joint mission will be to unravel them.
Does a coach need to be certified?
Coaching is not a regulated profession in Czechia, where I work, and not everyone who identifies as a coach is certified. For me, certification is crucial. I obtained mine under the Empowerment Institute, accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF), and I continuously work on my professional development.
Practical information
What does the first session look like?
The introductory session is free of charge and takes about 30 minutes. I will ask about your expectations and intent. I’ll introduce coaching in general as well as my own coaching style, and you can determine if it suits you.
What’s the frequency and length of the individual sessions?
One coaching session is either 60 or 90 minutes long. The recommended frequency is once every 2–4 weeks. However, we can plan a different schedule based on your needs.
How many sessions will I attend, and what will be the total cost?
The number of sessions is individual and depends on our mutual agreement. You can find the price list.
In what languages are the sessions held?
I offer coaching in English as well as Czech and Slovak.
Where do we meet?
The offline coaching sessions take place in Prague. In case you live elsewhere or prefer meeting online, don’t worry: we can schedule video calls.
Is coaching suitable for companies as well?
Definitely. Confidence coaching boosts employees’ decisiveness, resilience, adaptability to change, and overall personal growth. All of this can positively impact your results, both on a team level and company-wide. Do not hesitate to contact me for a personalised B2B offer.
